As a graduate student at Quinnipiac University, I’m currently enrolled in the course ICM501: Foundations of Graduate Studies. This course is designed to lay the groundwork for my journey through graduate school.
For one of the ICM501 assignments, I was tasked to research project management software that will keep me organized.
With the busy schedule of being a graduate student, I knew finding the right tool was crucial. After exploring various options, I landed on Todist, a software that seemed perfect for organizing my coursework.
The first step was putting my course layout into Todist. I created tasks for every module so far in my ICM501 course: Preview Week and Learning Modules 1-4. This allowed me to have a dedicated space for all course-related tasks.
For each section, I created subtasks that went into detail about what exactly I needed to complete in these modules. For instance, during Preview Week, I listed the following subtasks: “Purchase Textbook ‘Stolen Focus: Why You Can’t Pay Attention by Johann Hari’”, “Review Syllabus”, and “Blog Setup”.

To ensure I stay on track, I attached deadlines to each task. Todoist allows you to set due dates, which was incredibly helpful in managing my time. Additionally, I attached relevant material to each task, For example: each week on Tuesdays there is a 5 pm Zoom meeting, which I linked in every task.
Breaking down larger tasks into smaller ones made everything more manageable. Seeing a step-by-step of what needs to be completed each week gives me clarity and a sense of relaxation. I don’t have to worry about scrambling to find my assignments because they’re all right in front of me.
Discovering Todist is a game-changer in managing my coursework. It’s simple, effective, and keeps everything organized.
If you’re a student juggling multiple tasks, I highly recommend giving Todist a try!
